T'was A Good Show
I loved it!
Calvin didn't disappoint me at all. I was actually surprised at how much house he mixed in. He did indeed play "you used to hold me" and this video doesn't do it any sort of justice on how good that sounded live. Oh. My. Gosh. it was unreal! That was a moment I've been dreaming of. When the base drops in, there aren't even words to describe how I felt. Aside from Wolfgang Gartner at Together as one this was the best house show I've ever seen. I don't think it's fair to compare these two events because one was in a HUGE pavilion in LA and one was in Magna Utah. Had I seen Calvin at that kind of a festival I might have thought he was better that Wolfgang.
I went with Taylor Gledhill and that was a lot of fun, not going to lie though it wasn't the same without Ryan, I really missed her being there... I don't feel too terribly bad seeing as she's going to LA for beyond wonderland.... I'm jealous.
I would love to see his set again. He had lots of energy, lots of my favorite tunes, and lots of love.
Got a picture with Calvin Harris and No he is not flipping the camera off, he's pointing at me for being awesome. |

Stoked Much?
I'm so excited to see Calvin Harris tomorrow! I've listened to him for a long, long time. I remember before I even got into the electronic music scene I was in love with his track Colours and shortly after that Girls. He's a musical genius, I mean who else sings and works the tables at the same time as well as this Scottish babe? My favorite track is You Used To Hold Me, and I'm Not Alone comes in as a close second. There is no doubt that he'll drop Not Alone because it is probably one of his most famous songs but will he drop You used to hold me? Oh man, oh man! I just don't know! I sure hope he does. Oh and how groovy is Ready For the Weekend? I will be front and center fist pumping my heart out. I pray that he comes down after the show to shake hands, take pictures, sign autographs, etc.
Side Story-
Just yesterday somebody told me they were going to "Get Lucky" (the title of the rave he'll be headlining) and asked if I was going as well. I beamed a massive smile and proclaimed "YES!" for everyone to hear. The conversation following this was one of the more frustrating experiences I've had in my life. It went a little something like this:
Me: "Are you stoked to see Calvin?"
Idiot I wont name: "Calvin who?"
Me: "ummm.... Calvin Harris..."
Idiot: "who is that?"
At this point my massive smile has turned into a massive look of disgust.
Me: "okay wait, you're going to this show but you don't even know who's playing?"
Idiot: "yeah! I'm just going because it's called Get Lucky"
Me: "I'm really hoping you're joking"
Idiot: "why?"
Me: "I have nothing left to say bud..."
Idiot: "Did I offend you or something?"
Me: *sigh* "Nope, maybe I'll see you there... later."
@#$%^&*&^%$%^!!!!!!!!! it is people like this chump that I despise. People that go to raves just to go to a rave, there is something really, really, REALLY wrong with that. When I go it feels more like a sacrifice that has to be made for good music. I hate the drug infused culture more than I could possibly tell you but the music making it almost impossible not to raise your hands, the drop of heavy base that you can feel in your chest, the energy of the DJ(s) the crazy lights that draw you even closer to the music, leaving the venue with the sound resonating in you're mind and body, are all reasons that make it so that I'm willing to deal with a bunch of e-tards.
I'm done ranting but not quite done raving.

Gone Graphic
I can count on one hand the number of novels that I have enjoyed reading over the years, one hand! All my life I have despised reading. My Dad would always tell me, you just have to find books that you like, so I've experimented. I've read non-fiction, fiction, romance, mystery, thriller, sci-fi, biographies, and just about any genre you can dream of and I still do not have any particular interest in them. What I didn't realize is, for me, the genre is less important than the actual type of book. This year I've gone graphic (as in graphic novels). When I say graphic novels I don't necessarily mean comic books, rather a good mix of the comic style with more story and less super hero. I can appreciate DC and Marvel comics/novels but they aren't my favorite. Also, the anime scene isn't quite my style. First off, the anime books I've read, granted I've only read two, feel really heavy and intense. Secondly, call me a hard headed American if you'd like but I don't like when I have to read books in the opposite direction. American story based graphic novels is what I want.
Just today, I spent three hours in the library with a friend reading. In the past, if you would have ever told me that I would willingly go to the library to read for hours I would have called you insane, stupid, and possibly slightly retarded. However, today I would be excited. I'm definitely going to be scheduling more library visits for my new hobby. This is possibly the most nerdy thing that I could ever do but its totally chill with me. As I read good novels I'll post them on here for anyone interested in reading.

Words Can't Express My Love
I freaking love Hellogoodbye. They have the cheesiest cutest songs ever. It is impossible for me to listen to their songs with out a beaming smile on my face. I've been in love since 2006 when I was 13 years old and in the 8th grade. I went to their concert last year and I'll definitely be going when they come into town again. I honestly don't think I could form words to express to you how much I love Hellogoodbye.
Mrs. Kline,
Jealously doesn't even begin to descibe my feelings towards you.
Sincerly,
Rachel

I'm three days into my six week six pack. The work out is so hard! I've been sore all over since I've started it. This better not be a hoax. I want my own six pack in six weeks. I can't wait!

Trip to San Diego
After the Christmas festivities I flew out to San Diego to chill with my long lost friend Ryan. Well, I guess it hasn't been too long and the friendship hadn't been lost, but you get the point. It was a blast! We did all sorts of fun activities!! I was there for new years so we headed up to L.A. with some pals to attend TAO (Together as One). It was SO much fun. We were at the biggest new years party in all of North America! For two people who dislike mainstream as much as we do, we were loving how hip we were with the 50,000 other people who share the same taste in music and a good time as we do. Getting there, parking, picking up will call tickets, and actually getting into the area was probably one of the most frustrating things that has ever happened. We missed Markus Schulz preform which was devastating to say the least but we were still able to see Nero, Jack Beats, Major Lazer, Dada Life, and Wolfgang Gartner. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was worth the 80$ ticket price, the time spent, the 40$ parking and the 5$ waters. I can't think of a better way to introduce 2011 into our lives than to be at such a HUGE event with such good artists.
When we got back up to San Diego it was Ryan's birthday! We spent the day on the town visiting museums, visiting vintage clothing stores, eating sandwiches, etc.
That night we went to dinner at PF Changs with her family. Yum.
The next day we took a ferry over to Coronado island. We spent the day over there goofing around, basking in the sun light, and photo graphing/ filming our every move. haha.
Well I definitely need to tell you about our day at sea world! So fun!! Walrus's are my new favorite animal. We walked through all the exibits, saw all the shows, and I heard Ryan's story about how when she was 4 she sat on shamu probably 60 times. It's fine, it was a staple in her childhood I'm happy to hear about it. ;)
Okay last thing. We went biking along the beach. Precious!
T'was a good vacation!
